Retired former Director of Facilities and Safety. Mature, confident, calm under pressure (was a Disaster Prep/Response leader on a city/county/state level in California). Very easy to get along with. Good sense of humor. Definite team player and happy to share all activities, including galley and "soles and bowls". Current volunteer with US Coast Guard Auxiliary, and working on certifications for Surface Ops, SAR (Aux Air), and instructing Sailing and Seamanship. Also volunteer with the FBI Citizen's Academy in New York City. Have sailed as crew/ captain on many different types of boats, from sloops, schooners, and tall ships to traditional Pinises and Jukongs (Indonesia). Have studied for my Captain's License but have not yet taken the test. Have sailed extensively in the Northeast (LI Sound, Block Island, to Menemsha, Cape Cod, Boston, Great Lakes (Erie, Huron), Caribbean (Venezuela to USVI, St. John's), Sea of Cortez (Mazatlan to San Carlos), South of France (I'lsle d'Oloreans), Indonesia (Bali, Bali Laut, Lombok, Komodo, WaKaToBi). Too much to list on the history page. Last ocean voyage was in 2017, so looking to get back out there:) Love blue water sailing and the midnight watch. No problem losing sight of land for days at a time or dealing with weather. Can help navigate, paper charts, GPS, and have studied celestial 3x, (but don't own a sextant so am rusty with that), stand watch, sail handling, etc., and as a former Director of Facilities have a fairly strong knowledge of systems including plumbing, some electrical, and mechanical (although I wasn't full time hands on). Am very flexible as far as scheduling, so no issues with delays and/or change of plans. I'm looking to continue my adventures with a good (i.e. knowledgeable/fair/kind Captain, and competent/fun crew). | |
