Nationality: United Kingdom
Currently based in: East Grinstead, United Kingdom
Looking for: Worldwide opportunities
Experience: 22000 ocean miles / 5000 coastal miles
I was brought up on the north east coast with a keen yacht racing father. I spent many years windsurfing in all conditions, before getting my coastal Skipper qualification. My wife and I used to take our young family flotilla sailing in Greece, I still windsurf and occasionally sail off the south with friends. I completed over 8000nm on Clipper Yacht IchorCoal racing between Australia and China (2016) with nearly 50 days at sea. I acquired a Discovery 55 in 2018 which my family (wife, boy12, girl11) lived on for 2.5 years. We travelled from Canaries, via Cape Verdes to St Lucia, then south to Aruba, Colombia and Panama. Through the Panama Canal, Las Perlas, Ecuador and Galapagos. We made landfall at The Gambier Islands in French Polynesia and travelled extensively around Marquesas, Tuomotus and Society Islands. Unfortunately Covid restrictions stopped us travelling further to New Zealand and we sold our boat in Tahiti. We took on crew for ocean passages to help with watches. We will definitely go back to the cruising life at some point.
