I am retired and my wife is an author. We have been cruising on our monohull sailboat virtually full time for the past 4 years. I started sailing seriously about 7 years ago. I have taken several sailing classes from J-World and have several certifications from US Sailing. I've taken a USCG Coastal Navigation class as well. We own a Caliber 40 LRC cutter rigged sloop and spent 5 months refurbishing it, including a new suite of electronics in 2015. My wife has also taken US Sailing classes & has certificates including Bare Boat Chartering. We’ve cruised the Eastern seaboard from the Florida Keys to Maine. We spent 3 seasons in the Bahamas, mostly the Exumas. In May, 2018, we did a 9-day passage from Staniel Cay to Puerto del Rey, Puerto Rico. We hauled the boat there for hurricane season, and began sailing the Caribbean in November, 2018. By May, 2018, we were in Grenada and lived aboard for most of hurricane season. Again, after hurricane season this year, we headed north and we’re currently in Antigua. We intend to continue cruising the southern Caribbean until April, when we’ll make a 4-day passage to Bonaire, and spend a couple months diving there before laying up the boat for the summer. We plan to fly to Ireland for June & July to spend time with family and then fly to Eastern Europe. We’re looking forward to joining a boat as crew in the Adriatic sometime during August and September.
