Hi there fellow sailors! I'm a 63 year old sailor who has his own yacht which I normally sail with my wife Sue. I've sailed most of the south coast of England and the Atlantic coast of France, but now have the time and the desire to stretch my sea legs and sail further and explore new countries and cultures. I'm a marine engineer by trade having spent 17 years working in the RNLI and prior to that I served for 27 years in the Royal Navy. As a marine engineer I can turn my hand to most things including shipwright tasks, with a particular knowledge of composite materials. My sailing qualifications are RYA Coastal Skipper practical and Yachtmaster theory. I'm keen to further develop my skills and get more miles under my belt. Having crossed the Atlantic several times while in the navy I have always had a crossing by sail at the top of my bucket list. On a personal level I'm fit, adventurous and consider myself to have a good sense of humour. Working in both the Royal Navy and RNLI I like to think I have a tolerant nature and can easily fit into close knit teams. I'm looking mainly for crewing opportunities from October 2020 (I hoping to sail my own yacht this summer - Corona virus permitting!), but if a unmissable crewing opportunity comes up I can be flexible for an earlier date. Thanks for reading this profile and if you think I'm worth a shout please give me a bell. Cheers Chris Eves Note: The dog stays at home! | |
