Young fit 53, looking for my 3rd Transatlantic and wanting to learn and sail more. Low maintenance, positive outlook, flexible, reliable, non smoker. Never been seasick. Happy at the helm, chart table, solo night watch, doing dishes, swapping tales, discussing ideas, or simply looking at the ocean. RYA day skipper, conversational Spanish and French, fluent English, SSI open water advanced diver, and IT and photography skills. References available :) I expect to be in the Canaries very soon as I'm NOT based in England so can still travel. Good knowledge of eastern Canaries, and the Caribbean from Dominica to Grenada, especially St Lucia. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ With the possibility of spending weeks in the company of, and relying on, other folk there's more info here if you're interested... :) In 2017, fresh from an RYA day skipper qualification, I went to Gran Canaria, posted my notice up, and two days later set off on my first transatlantic crossing on a Leopard 44 cat being taken by the owners to the Caribbean for the charter season. We were a total crew of 5, we had almost no weather information, and it took a more-leisurely-than-planned 4 weeks! On arrival at St Lucia I was invited to stay on with the owners and Christmas with them at St Vincent was my best ever and we remain firm friends. They gave me a reference: "During our transatlantic crossing Anna was a enthusiastic and diligent member of our crew assisting in all apects of sailing the vessel, watch keeping, reefing and generally helping with day to day chores onboard. Her backgroud in IT proved invaluable when setting up our iridium, satellite comms as well as helping with our website. On arrival in the Caribbean Anna stayed on with us sailing to St. Lucia, Martinique, St. Vincent & the Grenadines helping to prepare the boat for charter." ~ ~ ~ In 2018 I was contacted by the owners of an Outremer 51 cat, and after a few messages and a phone call I joined them for their crossing. Again a crew of 5, this time the journey was part of long term family cruising. We had excellent weather information twice a day, a couple more sails, and a fast boat, and made the crossing to Grenada in 16 days with no motoring. They gave me a reference, "Anna did our Atlantic crossing with us from Las Palmas, Gran Canaria to Grenada. From the very first conversations we had, Anna displayed enthusiasm for pretty much everything. She is willing to have a go at anything, knowledgable with sail theory and continually building on practical experience. She is a yes, with a smile, for all requests and was a delight to have as part of our passage crew. I would happily have Anna aboard our boat again should we need an extra hand and the opportunity present itself!" ~ ~ ~ My most recent sail was a leisurely trip in March this year on a St Lucian friend's 1983 Morgan 50 monohull, St Lucia - Martinique - Dominica - Guadeloupe (the Saints) and back. I do know St Lucia very well, having worked there in tourism most of 2019. I can disembark on arrival and have a place to stay. I'm friends with the yacht club and was a member. I also have friends on/know a few Caribbean islands which could be useful. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Frankly I see a crossing as an opportunity to learn, more than to display my few skills. I am not well qualified, or very experienced, or terribly confident in sailing but I do know that I have happily and successfully crossed the Atlantic twice. I believe I know the likely hazards in a crossing, and the circumstances when I need to rouse the skipper. I can use AIS and radar information, and I can assist in any manoeuvre. I am positive, low maintenance, used to boat life, happy to assist in any chores, truly happy just to be on the ocean, and if you really want to hear them I have a few terrible jokes :) I could also be useful in Gran Canaria, where I worked for most of 2015. So thank you for reading this, and if we don't sail together then I wish you success in your crew search and fair winds. Best, Anna :) ~~~⛵~~~
